I have received three emails this week, all looking like PayPal information pages, relating to payment (for hundreds of dollars) for items purchased with PayPal as payment.
Two slight problems:
If you receive similar but haven't used PayPal for such items as are listed, don't worry about the email at all, just delete it and get on with your life. By all means check your PayPal account by going to the PayPal website via your browser.
The "Dispute" link leads to a phishing site that first displays a copy of the PayPal Login page, then, after you've logged in, giving it your username and password, takes you to a page to enter your personal details (I know this because I've looked. I use a fake user and password, one which lets them know that I know what they're about! I don't fill in details though).
If you fall for this then your PayPal account will be compromised, your identity could be "stolen" and used to take out loans etc.
If you have responded to one of these then get in touch with PayPal via their customer services and see if you can stop, or at least limit, the damage!
If you have any reason to deal with PayPal then goto to the PayPal home page direct from your browser, never via a link in an email!
I did have an email from PayPal regarding one of my cards, which is due to expire. There was a link for me to login and alter details but I logged in via their home page anyway. Better safe than sorry.
My PayPal account still has the funds in it that were there last week, ditto my registered cards (allowing for the use I have given them while shopping locally). I'll just await the 2 Nokia 8800 phones and the digital camera that are on their way (all from America) that totalled $1,500.00 (inc shipping). Look out for them appearing in the Items For Sale page when (if) they arrive (don't hold your breath though)!
