batterymasters.co.uk

I have had occasion to use the services of this on-line battery supplier twice now and have been impressed by their service and prices. Well to call them a battery supplier is not quite correct but batteries are their core business, see their website for the full range of products they sell.

First Impressions.

The first time I used them I was looking for a pair of 7 Ah 12V SLA batteries for my stair lift. Locally I was advised that the required batteries could be supplied for £25.00 each and a 'couple of days' to get them. I thought that I could do better than that so I returned home and searched the internet for a supplier that would do a better deal.

a page view from www.batterymasters.co.uk web site

I came across www.batterymasters.co.uk, whose price per battery was outstanding! So much less than I could source locally or elsewhere on the internet that I phoned them to check the price, especially seeing the contact details with a London address, usually a sign for a price increase!

A young lady answered my call and listened to my questions then put me through to the 'person best suited to answer your enquiry'. He confirmed that the prices on the web site were correct and asked if there was anything else he could help me with, I thanked him for his answer and went back to the PC to order.

Within 4 days the batteries arrived at the door. Final price? £23 and change for the pair! Less than half the price of locally and delivered, well packed, to my door.

Good Service Continues.

The second time I had call to use them was when Andrew, 2W0MGB, purchased a secondhand small, belt mounted power pack which had a 1.8 Ah 12V SLA inside of it. On testing the battery was, as half expected, expired and useless.

On searching for a replacement for him I discovered that 1.8 Ah was seemingly non existant but, on measuring the dead battery and compairing against specifications, it was discovered that a 2.3 Ah 12 V SLA battery was the same physical size. I priced up the battery via the internet and www.batterymasters.co.uk came in at £13.07, the next nearest price was £17 something with yet another supplier quoting over £25! All suppliers were in the UK and quoted prices were inclusive of shipping and VAT.

Andrew decided to go with the Batterymasters price, how much my recommendation from my previous dealing went toward that decision and how much was price I don't know. He gave me the money to order the battery for him.

Monday afternoon, after the school run, I sat down at the PC and ordered the battery online. I received the standard (I think automated) email confirming the order at just before 5PM local time and they would endeavour to deliver within 1-5 working days. At around lunchtime Tuesday I received an email confirming that the order had been despatched. Both emails contained the order information so an error in ordering can be spotted and rectified before any incorrect goods are sent, I suppose (not that I have experienced that with this company, but I know what some are like...).

On Wednesday lunchtime I took a trip to see Andrew and Daisy to deliver the battery to him that had arrived with me that morning, again well packed and just 42 hours from order to delivery for the standard delivery charge!

www.batterymasters.co.uk don't only stock SLA batteries, they stock the usual AAA, AA, C, D and 9V sizes, both rechargable and single use, 6V & 12 V SLA in various capacities, chargers for the rechargable battery types, camera batteries, button cells, alarm key fob batteries, laptop batteries, camera film, Zip disks, CD-R, the list goes on!

Their web site is fairly easy to navigate, although there are some broken image links (you get the text description but no little picture), and the secure online ordering using a credit card is also easy to use.

Conclusion.

Fast, efficient service and very reasonable prices will make this battery supplier my first port of call for my future power needs and a place to look for other items as well.

Update.

I assisted Andrew with searching out a new battery for his laptop. It was decided that a seller on ebay would be the chosen vendor this time as they were about half the price of batterymasters.co.uk (possibly because they were in China?). batterymasters were the next cheapest supplier for that battery, beating all other UK suppliers on price.
