Highfields Amateur Radio Club
Site Questions Pages.

You said you had paid to have the adverts removed
(and I'm glad that the pop ups have gone)
but there are still adverts on the site. Why?

For the calender page, well that is supplied and hosted by Brown Bear Software and the adverts on that page are the "cost" of the calender software and hosting, just like the site host originally.

For the rest of the site, since I removed the pop up adverts from the host I've signed up with a company that pays for displaying 3 adverts around the site. This gives a small regular income for the club which is a welcome bonus. I have also added a couple of adverts for sites that I use where a small monetary recompense is made for reviews, surveys and reading adverts.

There are currently 3 ads on the Home page (in the updates area) and 1 ad each at the bottom of Fun and Glossary index pages. If you have any more than this it's nothing to do with me or the site, more likely a piece of software that has installed on your PC and feeds the ads to you whether you want them or not!

I have also been asked about the links to other sites down the side of the pages.

There should be no links down the sides of the pages. The only links I put in are within the text, like the link on this page to Brown Bear, including the images, or on the Links pages (and they are in the centre of the page!). Again I think that there must be something on your PC feeding them to you!

Some Tool Bars are known for this type of activity, not the HamInfoBar though! so I am informed.
