What is "Prevalence Reporter"?
It keeps popping messages up about wanting to run.
I don't let it but I want to know what it is.

I was asked this question at a club meeting and, on returning home, I found the answer with a web search:

Prevalence Reporter, which has the file name "avgcmgr.exe", is a legitimate part of AVG 8.0.

It lets you know about potentially malicious and dangerous sites on the internet, a "phishing filter" if you like.

Allowing Prevalence Reporter to run will mean that your web searches will be accompanied by a coloured check mark next to them. A green check mark site is safe, while a grey check mark site could be dangerous. You then need to make a decision about the site you are trying to access, either continue to visit it, or take AVG's advice and leave it alone.

It's perfectly safe to run Prevalence Reporter, but it doesn't affect AVG 8.0 if you don't. For more help with AVG visit their on-line forum.

I don't use AVG myself but I hope this helps those that do.
