Most recent Icom radios use an OPC-474 cable for cloning data between two same model Icom radios. Ideal if you have a pair of radios, 1 indoors and 1 in the car, or a pair of handies, or your friend buys the same radio that you've got and asks you to program the memories (cheat, but hey! let's make life easy!), for example, and want to copy all the settings etc. Here are instructions to make one but before you start have you got a 3.5mm stereo to 3.5mm stereo jack plug intrerconnecting lead? (I have one for the audio from the PC to the speakers on the monitor) If so you can use that. If not read on and save around £10…
CAUTION:
If using a fully wired (stereo capable) lead for cloning ensure that the volume on BOTH transceivers is at the lowest setting.
I've been asked will this lead fit the IC-nnn? Well perhaps I should have given a list rather than "Most recent Icom radios…" so here goes (listed radios may not be Amateur Radio Service radios. Some radios may require an adaptor to use the OPC-474).
I've also been asked (possibly because there's nothing to it to justify the shop prices for the lead, just 2 plugs and a bit of cable) "Does it work?" Well I've used it on a pair of IC-2725s and a pair of IC-T3s and it did. Other compatible radios are taken from shop lists (this lead is suitable for…) or where it is listed in the manual as an optional accessory. With regard to non-Icom radios, the connection is shown in the relevant manual as being the same.
According to the owners manuals and other sources, this lead will fit:
