UBA.

Royal National Society of Belgian radio amateurs, the national amateur radio organization in Belgium.

UHF.

See: Ultra High Frequency.


Ultra High Frequency (UHF).

The portion of the radio spectrum from 300 MHz to 3 GHz or 300,000,000 to 3,000,000,000 cycles per second. Amateur bands to be found in the UHF range include:
ITU Region 1 (Including UK)
BandFrequency Range
70 centimeter430 - 440 MHz
23 centimeter1.240 - 1.325 GHz
13 centimeter2.310 - 2.450 GHz
Frequencies Higher than 1 GHz are often called Microwaves.

Unbalanced Line.

Feed line with one conductor at ground potential, such as coaxial cable.


Uncontrolled Environment.

Any area in which an RF signal may cause radiation exposure to people who may not be aware of the radiated electric and magnetic fields. It is generally considered that members of the general public and an amateur's neighbours to be in an uncontrolled RF radiation exposure environment.


Unidentified Communications or Signals.

Signals or radio communications in which the transmitting station's call sign is not transmitted.


Uplink.

A radio link from a site on the earth to a satellite or the moon.


Upper Sideband (USB).

The common single-sideband operating mode on the 20, 17, 15, 12 and 10-meter HF amateur bands, and all the VHF and UHF bands.
